The most dangerous roads of Pennsylvania DOT names Pittsburgh

The Pennsylvania Department of transportation and WPXI news station recently launched a report on the most dangerous roads and intersections in the area of Pittsburgh. Roads named in the report were chosen for the high number of car accidents that occur in these places.

According to WPXI, the number-one spot for dangerous failures in Allegheny County is route 51, or Saw Mill run Boulevard in Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Westmoreland County, the intersection of Route 66 and Beaver run Road has seen 93 car accidents and three deaths in the past five years. The intersection is a blind spot, making it invisible to drivers until they came over the Hill. Route 30, which runs between Colonial Manor apartments and malt Lane, saw 156 car accidents in the same period of five years.

Other municipalities in the area also sport dangerous intersections and stretches of road where are common car accidents of Pennsylvania. For example, the route 40 near Uniontown in Fayette County had 32 car accidents in 2010, while route 21 saw 42 accidents. By far the most dangerous stretch of road, however, was Route 119 off Connellsville, where there were 87 collisions in 2010.

The Pennsylvania Department of transportation began making plans to make these intersections and stretches of road safer for drivers. However, even the best transport planning can prevent all accidents.
